Who am I?

I'm Kathleen Ahrens, a former head of department and Hong Kong RGC panel member who has spent more than three decades in research-intensive universities. I now work one-to-one with scholars preparing for tenure and promotion. You do the writing; I read your case the way a committee will.

Set aside five to ten minutes and open your CV and your personal statement (or your draft notes for it) beside you.

When you finish the Readiness Check, you will:

See what already works

Know which parts of your case already make a strong argument for you.

Spot where reviewers will hesitate

See where a committee or external reviewer is likely to hesitate.

Know what to strengthen first

Know what to strengthen first, and have a clear plan for the months before your submission.

Made for scholars who want a committee's eye before they submit.

✦ You're preparing a tenure or promotion case in the next year or two.

✦ Your record is strong, but you're not sure your case explains why it matters.

✦ You'd rather strengthen your case now than find out what was missing after the vote.
